bungaree speak: bellies

j: so, mom are you pregnant yet?
b: not that I know of, j.
j: (gently pats up and down my belly) nope, you aren't pregnant yet, your belly has to be like a big mountain when you are pregnant.

the dinomania continues

I don't understand the infatuation with dinosaurs, not at all. But we are STILL in it. Yesterday we had some nice sunny weather and the j really wanted to build a dino-skeleton. He told us we needed to dig up bones and then build it. It was a pretty fun day!

If you come to our house, you will see the skeleton closest to the boys' feet taped with masking tape and hanging on our wall, what can I say it is art! haha! no, j just really wanted us to display it.

truth

What is it about truth that makes us hungry? What about truth brakes our ropes and releases us in freedom? How can kids grasp this hunger for all things right, all things pure, true, honest and noble? I have no idea other than to teach them. Ever since our move to calvary chapel in corvallis, not only have B and I had an increased hunger- but the boys have as well. J comes home from church describing Bible stories, telling little o in the backseat that if you love Jesus and ask him to be your God, your only God you will get to be with Him in heaven. He fully gets that Jesus basically said to God, "spank me instead of them, even though I have not done anything". Seriously...Kids get it!

I have no idea how to fan the hunger, except to feed it and that is what we do. These two little ones are captivated (no I did not ask them to pose). Every day j asks to read bible stories. We have a BIG God, that is so simple that kids get it!

Oh, and for FOREVER he was obsessed with the story where Moses had to make the brass snake. He wanted to read it every day! that is what they are reading (looking at) here.

Jesus answered, "I am the way the truth and the life, No one comes to the Father except through me.

john 14 . 6
Start children off on the way that they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

galimoto

GA-LI-MO-TO, you know! right? If not...let me tell you about my latest thing: those vehicles, usually bikes or cars or trucks that the kids make in several developing countries around the world....some in Kenya, and I saw that they are made in India as well. I went to our local "Ten Thousand Villages" here in Lebanon...it is a beautiful store and I just fell in love with these "galimotos" ! I decided not to buy them for the boys yet because they would be too hard on them. I just cannot stop thinking about them.
They are only $6 and they are incredible. I think I should by some and then make some more! The kids in these countries make them out of the scraps they can find and they are amazing to look at. When you roll them along the ground the little man's legs look as though they are pushing the pedals. I think I will have to go back and buy several. I am thinking of making it the theme in the boys new room...."international fun stuff" or something. Maybe it would be better to decorate my own room in them since I am the obsessed one. yeah?

mamma mia!

MAMMA MIA!
my life is getting better and better and yet many times i feel that i am treading water. raising two boys is a intense thing, but so worth it. my little O wakes up at night again due to who knows what exactly, i blame teething, a cold, being poopy or not being able to poop, over stimulation and much more. J is having nightmares that he can describe and he is waking up at night too( saying: " a black dream bit me on the head!" and other such craziness). therefore i wake too.
days are similarly nuts, but oh so enjoyable.
i feel like i am constantly giving, feeding, and helping and not too much getting and receiving. sometimes
this makes me feel tired, alone and distant, but really it shouldn't. there are many who are out there doing much more and giving much more. that can make me feel tired, alone and distant, but really it shouldn't. all of us [should] give what we are required to give, what we are asked to give and what we are called to give.we are not asked to give what anyone else is asked to give or compare ourselves to them. all i have to concern myself with is: am i giving exactly what i am supposed to? i am not asked to give too much (trying to do it all myself, just to be prideful and be super-crazy-mamma-martyr-woman), and not less (spending my time concentrating on things of no importance).

there are different seasons as well, seasons in which i need to give more and seasons in which i get more. i can feel guilty or grouchy about neither because i know that in all i have, in all i do, in all that i share i am completely blessed beyond my understanding.
