My library booksale loot was well worth it this year. I love the Friends of the Library Booksale in Corvallis, it is just what I needed . I got some pretty good reads, hope to read them soon.

bungaree choice TV

We don't even have cable, so we get to pick and choose what we let in- and because we don't want to pay for it! Brad and I watch our two shows we love the day after on the computer (The Office and LOST) and we borrow movies and kids dvds from the library.

If the kids LOVE them then we keep that in mind and buy them for them for a birthday or somesuch event. Below I am going to give out our all time favourite titles. Keep in mind that we have little boys, and no little girls...although from the selection that will probably be obvious.

The Classic Films we love most:

Shows that have the bungaree (and mamma) approval:

I'd love to know which things you find irresistible! Which are your favourite classics that you hope (if you aren't already) to some day share with your kids?

Lazy M Ranch

We are so blessed, Brad's grandparents own a farm in Crawfordsville, Oregon. It is the equivalent of a theme park for the little bungarees (and sometimes the big ones too). Lazy M Ranch is the place to be, dogs, plants, grass, rocks, sticks, acres of room to run, a creek, and the 4-wheeler. A dream.

Oven Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Oven Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Recipe from Alton Brown of Food Network (doubled and slightly amended)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoon powdered mustard
  • 6 cups milk
  • 1 cup yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 large egg
  • 10 ounces shredded mozzarella
  • 10 ounces cheddar
  • 2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • black pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente.

While the pasta is cooking, in a separate pot, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and mustard and keep it moving for about five minutes. Make sure it's free of lumps. Stir in the milk, onion, bay leaf, and paprika. Simmer for ten minutes and remove the bay leaf.

Temper in the egg. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Fold the macaroni into the mix and pour into a 9 by 13 casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese.

Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and rest for five minutes before serving.

Remember to save leftovers for fried Macaroni and Cheese.
